Reindeer Christmas Mantel

YAY! It’s December!

Reindeer Christmas Mantel Fireplace

I couldn’t be more excited! This is my favourite time of year!

This month I wanted to show you the rooms we have finished within our home decorated for Christmas.

But then I saw all of the beautiful home tours blogger’s featured this week. (Did you see them, too?!)

Beautiful.

And I got nervous.

Reindeer Christmas Mantel Fireplace

Nervous my home wasn’t good enough. That Iย wasn’t good enough. I mean, how can you compare with those gorgeous homes?

I was stressing out – and realized exactly what I was doing…

Comparing.

I stopped what I was doing when I realized I wasn’t fully enjoying decorating because I was worried about how beautiful someone else’s home was. I was taking away from the joy of decorating my home for Christmas. (One of my favourite things to do of all time!)

I gave myself a pep talk and kept one thing in my mind – The joy I experience decorating my home.

After all, it’s only our second Christmas in our home and we are a young couple! (And although I don’t post my age on here, the fact is my 20-something age is a lot closer to the 20 than the ‘something’)

I think we’re doing pretty well so far. ๐Ÿ™‚

As long as you experience every aspect of the holidays with joy in your heart you can’t go wrong.

Enjoy yourself. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Love your mantel! The reindeer and sheet music bunting are great. Found you at the HomeGoods link party! ~Sonya

  2. That is simply beautiful! You are right, you can’t worry about competing or comparing your home with others. We all have our own unique style and while I think other homes are beautiful and breath taking, I know that my home is the way I want it to be and I am satisfied with that.

  3. Gosh, I love your blog!! Your fireplace makeover is what brought me over and it rocks! Great job!

  4. Your Christmas mantel looks so beautiful! I am a big fan of symmetry, so your mantel decor really appeals to me! Great job! So pretty!

    • I’m a big fan of symmetry, too. Funny – last year my fiancรฉ placed the reindeer on the mantel as a joke, and I loved it! I can’t imagine my Christmas mantel without it now. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you Lisa!

  5. Brandi, your mantel is stunning! Laugh away any insecurities you may have about it because it’s perfect. You should have seen what my mantels looked like when I was in my 20’s – not a pretty sight…

  6. Exactly. The most important thing, is that YOU like it and it make you happy. I know it’s hard but you just keep being you and don’t compare yourself. Do you sweetie. It’s perfect.

    Happy Holidays.

  7. Your mantel is lovely, Brandi! You are doing a wonderful job! Sometimes the comparison and doubt sneaks in but don’t ever let it stop you. You have a lovely home and your readers come to see what YOU do with it. I love you style. Happy holidays friend!

    • You are so right dear friendโ€ฆ and over time it can only get better. It’s so easy to forget to appreciate the journey and where you are right now.

  8. I love your mantel!! Oh and I love your chairs too! I have to remember when I look at gorgeous home tours, that it’s all staged…there’s always a pile of kids toys in the corner and unfolded laundry that you don’t see. Your home looks fantastic!

  9. Love your banner!! Your mantle is full of rustic charm! I’m right there with you; facing the challenge NOT to compare myself and my home with everyone else’s. There is so much joy in loving what you have! Merry Christmas!!

    • Hi Ruby,

  17. Loving that reindeer!!! You totally did that mantel right by letting the reindeer be the focal point and keeping everything else relatively simple.

    • Thank you Jamie! I have to agree. I also knew my tree would be later put up to the left hand side and would add a lot more to the room, so I tried to keep that in mind. ๐Ÿ™‚
